Puerto Rico is a great place to get outside and enjoy some water sports. While Puerto Rico is generally a cheap place to travel, some excursions such as jet ski rentals can be pretty expensive. For today’s article, I will review the best and cheapest jet ski rentals in Puerto Rico.
Best cheap jet ski rentals in Puerto Rico
The two best jet ski rentals in Puerto Rico are Archie Jet Ski and Wow Surfing School & Jet Ski. Their prices range from $100-$200 depending on type of rental and duration.
Cheapest jet ski rental in Puerto Rico
If you are looking for a freestyle rental where you can rent a jet ski and go out on your own, Archie Jet Ski is your cheapest option.
They offer a 30-minute rental for $100. While this sounds expensive, it is the cheapest you will find for a free style jet ski rental in San Juan.
On the bright side, the cost is per jet ski and not per person. You can either have two adults on the jet ski, or one adult and two kids. The overall weight capacity for the jet ski is 350 pounds.
This rental place has top of the line Yamaha wave runners, which can reach speeds of up to 60 mph.
This rental is located on Isla Verde Beach, right next to El San Juan Hotel. In order to drive the jet ski, you must be 21 or older and have a valid driver’s license. Make sure to bring your license with you. Passengers on the jet ski have to be at least 7 years old.
They will provide you with life jackets and everything else you need for your rental. Their staff is extremely nice, and are happy to give you tips if you are a beginner jet ski rider.
Since the coastline and marina is busy with boats, you can only ride the jet ski in a closed off area that is approximately 2.5 square miles. You can reserve a jet ski at their location on the beach, or you can reserve online here.
If you want to see famous landmarks on your jet ski rental, I suggest you do a jet ski tour. They are a bit more expensive, but I think they provide the best experience.
Best jet ski tour in Puerto Rico
The best jet ski tour in Puerto Rico is offered by Wow Surfing School & Jet Ski. Their tour guides are very knowledgeable about the area, so you get a great history lesson along with your jet ski ride.
In this tour, your go right up to the infamous El Morro Fortress, which is arguably the most popular attraction in San Juan. You get to see fortress from the water, which is a lot cooler than being on land crowded next to a bunch of tourists.
The tour also takes you to the point of the Bermuda Triangle that touches the coast of Puerto Rico.
Even though this is a guided tour, they still let you hit full speed on their wave runner jet skis. The staff is also very kind and accommodating.
The El Morro Fort Tour costs $200 per jet ski, which does sound expensive, but it is for an hour and a half. I personally think it is totally worth the money. You can make a reservation here.
They also let two people on each jet ski, and they let you switch drivers if you want to take turns driving the jet ski.
If your on a smaller budget, they do offer a 45 minute guided tour of San Juan Bay. However, this tour doesn’t have as many landmarks on the trip.
They are located in San Juan Bay Marina, which is located in Condado. A nice perk about this rental is that they provide free parking for their guests.
Best Jet ski rental Aguadilla Puerto Rico
The best jet ski rental in Aguadilla is Aguadilla Watersports. They offer an hour long jet ski tour for a very reasonable price of $145.
You can have up to two people on the jet ski. Drivers must be at least 18, and passengers must be 10 or up.
This is a family-owned business, and their customer service has excellent reviews. They have a nice fleet of top of the line Sea-doos. Their jet skis have Bluetooth speakers that you can connect your music to.
The tour will take you to all of the best views along Aguadilla beach. The tours can be customized so you can request to view certain landmarks during the tour. The water here is much cleaner than the water in San Juan. It is very similar to other Caribbean islands such as the Virgin Islands.
The staff will also take a ton of pictures for you, which will make the memory last forever.
If you find yourself near Aguadilla, I highly recommend this place.
You can make a reservation here, or you can make a reservation in person at their location on Borinquen beach in Aguadilla.
If you plan on having a group of 4 or more jet skis, they recommend that you reserve your booking at least 2 days in advance.
Do you need a license to ride a jet ski in Puerto Rico?
If you are doing a guided jet ski tour, you do not need a license to drive a jet ski in Puerto Rico.
However, if you are doing a jet ski rental that allows you to go out on your own, you will need a valid driver’s license.
Age requirements will vary by the rental spot, but most places require the driver to be at least 21. Some places do allow you to drive the jet ski if you are 18.
