Benefits of a jet ski roller ramp
Roller ramps are an excellent way to store your jet ski. Some of the benefits include:
- Great alternative to dock: If you don’t have the space to build a dock, roller ramps are a great alternative. They take up way less space but keep your jet ski just as safe and secure.
- Cheap: Roller ramps are way cheaper than building a dock or renting a slip at a dock.
- Easy to install and use: I’ll go more into detail later, but most roller ramps are easy to install. They are lightweight which makes it easy to move around. Lastly, once with winches make it very easy to pull your jet ski up.
- Out of water: Lastly, roller ramps are great because they allow you to pull your jet ski completely out of the water. This helps reduce wear and tear, and also makes it easier to access the bottom of the jet ski for maintenance. If you put a jet ski cover on top, you can leave the jet ski on the ramp in the off season.
Now that you know the benefits of roller ramps, let’s review some of the best jet ski roller ramps on the market.
Best cheap jet ski roller ramps
The best jet ski roller ramps are the Lakeside Recreation Shore Ramp, the Harbor Mate Ramp, and the Roll n Go jet ski ramp.
If you are looking for a cheap, DIY option, you can build your own roller ramp with the Dock Caster Wheel Kit Set.
Lakeside Recreation Shore Ramp
This jet ski roller ramp from Lakeside is my personal favorite. It can accommodate jet skis up to 12 feet long and 1,200 pounds, which should cover just about every jet ski on the market.
It comes with a manual winch which allows you to reel the jet ski up the ramp. There is also an electric winch attachment that you can buy on their website.
The ramp is made of quality aluminum and stainless steel, which will last long and does a good job of avoiding rust. Best of all, this ramp comes mostly pre-assembled, and it shouldn’t take more than an hour to get everything set up.
The ramp itself weighs 85 pounds, so it can be moved around by one person. If you are looking for options to transport your jet ski on the road, you should check out my article on the best jet ski trailers.
If the 12 foot length isn’t long enough for you, there is also a 7.5 foot extension that you can buy here.
The extra length is great if you have a large jet ski, or need to dock in a place with heavy waves near the shore.
Harbor Mate Watercraft Dock
The Harbor Mate roller ramp is another great option. It can also accommodate jet skis up to 12 feet long and has a weight capacity of 1,000 pounds. It is made of lightweight aluminum which won’t rust whether you are in fresh or salt water.
This dock is also the lightest on the list at 83.5 pounds, which makes it very easy to transport. Lastly, it comes with a manual winch that you use to pull the jet ski up onto the dock.
At the time of this writing, this ramp costs around $930.
Roll n Go Ramp
Last but not least, we have the Roll n Go Ramp. This is a very popular ramp, and it might deserve to be higher on the list, except it is the most expensive option. At the time of this writing, it costs around $1,200.
I recommend this ramp if you have a large jet ski that is 12 feet or longer. While the ramp is 11 feet long, there is an additional 8-foot extension that you can add to the ramp for more length. This also makes it easier to put the ramp on steeper ground.
Also, the width of the ramp can be extended up to 14 inches, which is great for jet skis with wide hulls. Like the other ramps on this list, it comes with a manual winch that you use to reel in the jet ski.
Cheapest option: Dock Caster Wheel Kit Set
If you have a tight budget, there is one more ramp worth mentioning. The Dock Caster Wheel Kit comes with all of the parts needed for building your own ramp, aside from the wooden structure. The manual does come with the suggested dimensions for the lumber that makes up the frame.
You will have to make the base of the ramp with wood, and then you can attach the wheel kit set to complete your ramp.
One of the best perks is that you can customize your ramp to the size and design of your liking. The wheel set can accommodate ramps up to 16 feet, so it can accommodate small boats as well.
You can buy this wheel kit set for around $300.

How do jet ski roller ramps work?
Roller ramps are a pretty simple system. The foot of the ramp is dug into the ground so that the ramp stays in place.
When a jet ski is ready to come on, you bring the nose of the jet ski to the start of the ramp. You then connect the winch strap to the front of the jet ski and start to crank the winch. This causes the jet ski to slowly slide up the ramp.
If it is your first time using a roller ramp, I suggest you pull it up slowly just to make sure the bottom of the jet ski only comes in contact with the wheels, and not the steel base of the ramp.
You should reel the jet ski up until it is out of the water, and then your jet ski is safely stored. You should monitor water levels in your area just in case a storm comes and raises the levels.
An alternative to a roller ramp is the Mr. Lifter jet ski lift.

I hope this article helped explain why roller ramps are a great way to park or store your jet skis. They offer a cheap way to store your jet ski.
