“Must Have” Yamaha Jet Ski Accessories
Yamaha Riding Gloves
Riding gloves always seem to be forgotten about when it comes to Yamaha jet ski accessories. For some reason people either love them or hate them. There’s rarely an in-between.
If you’ve never used riding gloves before, they’re worth trying out. First of all they make you look official, but they can also be practical as well. Gloves prevent blisters and sunburn on your hands, and also give you more grip.
Yamaha Jet Ski Apparel
How you choose to dress is how you show who you are, what you’re into, and what you support.
Whether it be a sports team or a specific brand, people love to express what they like through the clothing they wear.
That being said, what better way to represent your love for Yamaha than by picking up a hoodie? If it’s too hot out for a hoodie, they also have t-shirts available as well.
On a side note, it’s worth mentioning that Yamaha’s clothing is actually pretty high quality considering they’re a powersports vehicle company. Sometimes when larger companies that aren’t in apparel release clothing, it isn’t the best quality.
Step Ladder
A step ladder, or reboarding ladder, is just a fold-down ladder that makes it easier to get back on a PWC. Usually, they attach to the tow hook or are built into the rear deck.
Some older Waverunner models don’t have them, so a step ladder is one of the most useful Yamaha jet ski accessories you can get. It’s not the most exciting add on, but it is practical.
There is an official Yamaha reboarding ladder available, but it’s somewhat pricey. However, if you don’t want to deal with a rope ladder, then it’s definitely worth the buy.
Fenders
When it comes to your PWC, you should always try to baby it as much as you can. This means investing in some decent fenders.
It might not seem like it, but something as simple as a few fenders can end up saving you thousands of dollars.
When it comes down to it, fenders are one of the best Yamaha jet ski accessories you can get.
By preventing any dents or dings, fenders can help your Waverunner hold its resale value in case you ever decide to swap it out for something newer.
There are name brand Yamaha fenders available, but the off-brand version usually works just as well.
Helmet
We’ve written about jet ski helmets in a previous post, so we won’t go too in-depth here.
To sum things up, there aren’t many helmets made specifically for riding a jet ski. However, some people choose to wear motocross helmets instead.
Whether or not you choose to is entirely up to you, but there is some great protective equipment out there that you may want to look into.
Keep in mind that some helmets may become waterlogged if for whatever reason you take a dip. Usually helmets with breathable mesh padding air out the fastest. It also helps if the padding is removable.
Yamaha Jet Ski Paddle
Hopefully, it never happens to you, but every now and then Waverunners break down out on the water.
Now that’s pretty unlikely considering Yamaha makes some of the most reliable jet skis on the market, but anything is possible.
If you ever do break down, a spare paddle is one of the most useful pieces of Yamaha jet ski kit you can have. They’re really inexpensive, and they take up little to no room, so there’s no real reason not to have one.
Aside from helping you return to shore, a paddle can also help you with docking if your Waverunner doesn’t have RiDE technology.
Jet Ski Speakers
Everyone loves music, and you should never have to sacrifice your music when you go out on the water. Let’s face it, lake days just aren’t the same without good music.
There are a ton of great waterproof Bluetooth speakers out there, and if you’re really committed you can even permanently install some on your Waverunner.
Just make sure you measure twice and cut once before drilling any holes into your beloved watercraft.

Jet Ski Fishing / Cooler Rack
Yamaha’s PWC have always made for great fishing jet skis, and a fishing rack makes them even better.
Although a fishing rack is one of the best Yamaha jet ski accessories out there, there are a lot of cheaply made options that aren’t so good. Be sure that you invest in a quality made product, and it will last you forever.
Also, it’s worth considering picking up some single clamp fishing rod holders. They’re less bulky than a full-on fishing rig so it’s easier to keep one or two mounted full time.
Bungee Dock Line
Anyone who’s been around PWC for a considerable amount of time knows how important a good dock line is.
A few feet of bungee dock line is one of the best items you can get for your Waverunner. Not only is it cheap, but it’s useful. A lot of accessories are just add ons you don’t really need, but a good dock line is a “must-have”.
Cup Holder
A cup holder is one of those things you don’t realize you need until you start using one. By no means is a cup holder the most essential Yamaha Waverunner accessory, but it sure is nice to have.
Most cup holders are designed for motorcycles, but it’s pretty easy to attach them to a jet ski as well. Usually, they take a few minutes to install but after that you’re good to go.
Yamaha Decal
Adding a decal to your Waverunner is a great way to set it apart from everyone else on the water.
It can be kind of tough to find a durable jet ski decal, but a lot of people manage to make motorcycle decals work instead.
Solar Charger
Solar chargers have a few different uses when it comes to PWC. One of the most popular uses is for charging handheld devices while out on the water. After all, there aren’t a lot of outlets available when you’re in the middle of a lake.
Another one of their major uses is for trickle charging jet ski batteries when they’re being stored. Rather than completely charging the battery, a solar charger can slowly charge it over a period of time, giving it a longer lifespan.
This is one of the most important steps when you winterize a jet ski, so if you don’t already own one then it should definitely be on your shopping list.
Jet Ski Anchor
Unless you want your Waverunner floating away, a solid anchor is a good thing to have.
A good jet ski anchor is a pretty standard accessory, but you’d be surprised to find out how many people don’t have one. Either that or they’re using some make-shift anchor made out of lead and rope.
There are several affordable jet ski anchors out there that are pretty good for the price. A lot of them can even fold up so it’s easier to store them.
Yamaha Jet Ski Cover
Even if you live in a tropical climate, every single PWC owner should invest in a jet ski cover.
They really don’t cost that much, and they help protect your Waverunner from the elements. You may not think it makes a big difference, but it does.
When it comes to buying a jet ski cover, avoid trying to cut corners. Cheap covers simply don’t last very long, and you’ll end up buying a new one every season.
You can get an official Yamaha cover but they’re really expensive!
